The Karate Kid is back. The 1984 movie the Karate Kid which made it big in the US has returned and the new film will be released in theaters across the United States on the 11th of June, 2010. Playing the role of the famous Karate Kid character in the movie will be teen actor Jaden Smith who will play the role of Dre Parker. The film has been directed by Harald Zwart who has directed a number of other movies such as Pink Panther 2, Agent Code Banks, One Night at the McCool’s and quite a few other movies and TV series.
The film starts with the character of Dre Parker who has to move from Detroit to China because her mother has landed a job there. Once at school Dre starts to like a student named Ying but their cultural differences keep moving them apart. In addition to that, Dre also manages to make enemies in the class and one of those is the class bully Cheng.
Dre tries to showcase her karate skills on Cheng but in the land of Kung Fu Cheng is no loser; he puts Dre on the floor with the utmost ease. After this Dre decides to master the art of Kung Fu and that is when she meets the character of Mr. Han, whose role is played by Jackie Chan. Mr. Han is a Kung Fu master and starts teaching Dre the actual art of fighting which is not kicks and blows but calmness and maturity.
